THE OAK BARN WEDDING

The Oak Barn at Frame Farm is a family-run, sustainable wedding venue set in the beautiful countryside of Benenden, Kent. With its blend of rustic charm and modern luxury, it was the perfect choice for Scarlett and James’ wedding day.

Scarlett got ready for the ceremony in the venue’s on-site accommodation, spending a relaxed morning with her daughter and closest friends. The calm, easy-going atmosphere meant I had time to catch up with James before the ceremony to document his preparations too, as well as capture guests arriving at the venue. Scarlett had arranged for her closest friends to see her once she was ready, so we planned a little reveal, creating a really special moment just before the ceremony.

The ceremony took place on The Byre’s Terrace, an ideal setting for a warm August afternoon. After a beautifully touching ceremony, I gathered everyone for the all-important confetti moment. While I still had everyone together, we also captured a big group photo to make sure no one missed out on a shot with the newly married couple.

With the stunning grounds of The Oak Barn as a backdrop, guests relaxed into the afternoon, giving me plenty of opportunity to work in a documentary style and photograph genuine moments as they naturally unfolded. We then completed the essential group photos quickly and without fuss before guests were invited into The Oak Barn to take their seats for the wedding breakfast. Before Scarlett and James were introduced, I borrowed them for a few minutes to make the most of the summer sunshine, all while hoping for a beautiful golden hour later on.

After the speeches, we took some relaxed family photos with Scarlett and James’ children, followed by a bit of fun with smoke bomb photos for the guests. I then slipped back into documentary mode, capturing more natural moments of everyone enjoying the sunshine and celebrating together.

As the evening arrived and the cake had been cut and the first dance completed, we were treated to the most spectacular golden hour. Not one to let that opportunity pass, I suggested heading out for a few more portraits, and Scarlett and James were more than happy to do so. I’m so glad they did.

The Oak Barn at Frame Farm is a truly beautiful wedding venue, and Scarlett and James’ day was filled with laughter, fun and so many special moments from start to finish.
