Zainub & Ben – Battle Abbey East Sussex
Zainub & Ben live in Canada, but chose to marry at the stunning Battle Abbey. Ben came from Kent so you can see why Battle Abbey was chosen for their wedding day.
Battle Abbey is steeped in history. The Abbey was built by William the Conqueror to commemorate his victory over the then King of England. Much of the Abbey was destroyed during the dissolution of the monasteries in 1538 by King Henry VIII. Anyway, enough of the history lesson and back to the wedding.
Zainub and her bridal party got ready at The Abbey Hotel just across from the Abbey, in East Sussex. The morning ran smoothly and it was soon time for to head over the road to head to the gorgeous venue.
Wow, the ceremony room was absolutely stunning, after an emotional ceremony it was time to head to the terrace for drinks and some lawn games. A quick decision was made to move to behind the Abbey to avoid the wind and was a really good move. The sun shone and without the wind it was surprisingly pleasant outside for an April day.
Just behind the building where the ceremony took place is the ruins of the Abbey, we made full use of this after dark to create some stunning portraits of the bride and groom. Wandering around the ruins in the pitch black was a little creepy but so worth it for the shots we got to round off such a lovely day.
I wish Zainub & Ben all the best for their future.
